2018 Election Calendar for Members and Candidates
For 32 years the Stonewall Democratic Club of NYC has played an important part in municipal, state, and federal elections. In 2018 New York will be voting for Congressional and State offices. SDNYC will once again:
- Question candidates on issues important to the LGBTQ Community.
- Present candidates to our membership for endorsement votes.
- Support our endorsed candidates in both the primary and general elections.
Our 2018 Calendar has been set. Here is the information and dates you need to know:
CANDIDATES
Qualifying for our Endorsement Ballot:
- Incumbents who secured SDNYC's endorsement in the most recent election for their current office will be included on our endorsement ballot and are not required to submit the Club's 2018 questionnaire. However, in the interest of ensuring our members are knowledgeable about all candidates being considered and to generate greater interest in your campaign, we strongly encourage all candidates seeking our endorsement to submit the Club's 2018 questionnaire using the timeline below, including incumbents previously endorsed by SDNYC.
- All other candidates must submit SDNYC's candidate questionnaire on the dates detailed below to be included on the endorsement ballot distributed to our membership at endorsement meetings.

March 20: SDNYC Congressional Candidate Questionnaire posted.
April 22, midnight: Congressional Candidate Questionnaires due.*
April 25: Congressional Endorsement meeting
July 8: SDNYC State Candidate Questionnaire posted.
July 22, midnight: State Candidate Questionnaires due.*
July 25: State Endorsement meeting
*Any questionnaires received after this time will not be posted or made available to membership at the endorsement meeting.
MEMBERS
Eligibility to Vote at SDNYC Endorsement Meetings:
- Individuals who have been dues paying members of SDNYC in 2017 or 2016, are eligible to vote so long as they have paid the Club's 2018 dues before casting their ballot (payment can submitted online or in person at an endorsement meeting).
- Individuals who were not dues paying members of SDNYC in 2017 or 2016, must have paid the Club's 2018 membership dues on or before the dates listed below to be eligible to vote at the endorsement meetings.
February 28: Last day to become a paid member*, eligible to vote in Congressional Endorsement. Join/Renew here.
April 26: Last day to become a paid member*, eligible to vote in State Endorsement. Join/Renew here.
April 28: Congressional Endorsement meeting
June 1: Federal Primary Election Voter Registration Deadline (Get More Info About Registering To Vote in NYC)
June 26: Congressional Primary Election
July 25: State Endorsement meeting
August 19: NYS Primary Election Voter Registration Deadline (Get More Info About Registering To Vote in NYC)
September 13: State Primary Election
October 12: General Election Voter Registration Deadline (Get More Info About Registering To Vote in NYC)
November 6: General Election
*This applies to new members or members who did not pay in 2016 or 2017. 2016/7 paid members may pay on the day of the endorsement meeting.
