Outcome of Emergency Mayoral Endorsement Meeting
See below for SDNYC statement
Emergency Mayoral Endorsement Meeting - 5/5 @ 6:30pm
In light of the recent allegations made against Mayoral candidate Scott Stringer, SDNYC will be asking its membership to vote whether to withdraw the Club's endorsement. Per our constitution, a two thirds majority vote is required to withdraw the Club's endorsement (see below for text from our bylaws).
BALLOT INFORMATION
On Wednesday, May 5th at approximately 6:30pm, SDNYC members who were eligible to vote during the Club's April 21st mayoral endorsement meeting will receive a ballot via email. The ballot will remain open until 11:30pm. The ballot will include two questions:
The first question will ask members to vote whether to withdraw SDNYC's endorsement of Scott Stringer.
The second question will ask members to vote for which alternative candidate the club should endorse, if any.
Although we are asking members to vote on both questions on the same ballot Wednesday evening, we will only open the results of the second question if our original endorsement is withdrawn.
MEETING INFORMATION
In addition, SDNYC will be holding an emergency membership meeting on Wednesday, May 5th at 6:30pm where we will go over the voting procedures. If you were eligible to vote during the Club's April 21st mayoral endorsement meeting, you will receive a ballot via email regardless of whether you attend this meeting.

Sec. 4 Endorsements
c. The Club’s endorsement may not be withdrawn unless new information is revealed regarding a candidate that is inimical to the purposes of the Club or pertains to a crime or other serious transgression, the candidate publicly changes a position on an issue of importance to the Club, or it becomes apparent that the membership was not fully informed about the candidate’s positions on issues of importance to the Club. In order to withdraw the endorsement, an emergency meeting of the Club must be held with at least 48 hours of notice by electronic mail. At said emergency meeting, an endorsement may be withdrawn upon a two thirds vote of a quorum of the membership. If a quorum is not present, the Board may withdraw the endorsement by a two thirds vote.
