SDNYC Statement re: Hate Crime in Jackson Heights on Nov. 29, 2015

On Sunday night in Jackson Heights, yet another transgender woman was violently attacked in what is being investigated as a hate crime. Then on Monday evening, as the victim lay in recovery at a local hospital, she was re-victimized by ABC News 7 NY's report on the violence perpetrated against her. This second assault although verbal in nature, is egregious and the reporters' blatant misgendering and dehumanizing a victim of violence cannot be ignored.
