On October 28th, SDNYC will host an panel discussion immigration issues in NYC and their impact on the LGBT Community including NYPD's involvement in immigration issues, asylum in NYC, detention facilities and how City agencies can help address LGBT immigration issues.

Un panel de expertos discutirá cuestiones relacionadas con inmigración en la cuidad de Nueva York y su impacto en la comunidad LGBT incluyendo la participación NYPD en cuestiones de inmigración, asilo político en la cuidad de Nueva York, los centros de detención y como agencias de la cuidad pueden trabajar con la comunidad LGBT en cuestiones de inmigración.

Opening remarks will be provided by special guest:
--Hon. Carlos Menchaca, Chair of the NYC Council Committee on Immigration

The following guest panelists will join us for this important discussion:

-- Clement Lee, Staff Attorney - Detention Program, Immigration Equality
-- Michael Schreiber, Esq., Immigration Attorney
-- Hollis V. Pfitsh, Deputy Commissioner, NYC Commission On Human Rights - Law Enforcement Bureau

We will also be joined by Aaron Soriano, LGBT Community Organizer -IDNYC Program, NYC Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs who will share a brief update on efforts of the City’s Municipal ID program (ID NYC) to reach LGBT Immigrant New Yorkers.
