Robert Pinter Victory Celebration & Rally

ROBERT PINTER VICTORY CELEBRATION AND RALLY

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SATURDAY JUNE 21, 2014 FROM 3:00 - 4:00PM

IN FRONT OF THE STONEWALL INN (53 CHRISTOPHER STREET)

On Friday May 2, 2014, Robert Pinter signed a $450,000 settlement with the City of New York in his federal civil rights lawsuit stemming from his October 10, 2008 false arrest for prostitution outside the Blue Door, an East Village adult video store. In 2008, Pinter and at least forty other men, mostly men of color, were profiled as gay and arrested for prostitution by NYPD male undercover vice squad officers at six Manhattan adult video stores, in an operation reminiscent of the pre-Stonewall era. The arrests were used by the City in legal efforts to close the stores down. By December of 2008, Pinter and other activists had formed the "Campaign to Stop the False Arrests" to put an end to the operation.

Come out to the Stonewall Inn on Saturday June 21 at 3pm and hear from community leaders, activists and elected officials involved in this 6 year struggle, as they celebrate and respond to this victory and what it represents for the LGBT community and beyond.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! If you can arrive early and help set up and/or assist during the rally please contact me asap.

Adriano Espaillat thanks SDNYC

In response to the club's endorsement, Adriano Espaillat has sent the following to the membership:

Dear Stonewall Democratic Club of New York City,

Thank you for your endorsement in the upcoming congressional primary, it means so much to me to have the support of the New York City LGBTQ community. I am proud of my record in Albany, from passing marriage equality in 2011 to advocating for and co-sponsoring the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act (GENDA) and the banning of conversion therapy for LGBTQ youth. I look forward to bringing the LGBTQ reforms that we have been able to pass in New York State to the federal level and being an ally to our nation's LGBTQ community.

Sincerely,

Adriano Espaillat
