Our members made it clear with their endorsement vote:  SDNYC supports the candidates running against the IDC.  For too long crucial bills for the LGBTQ community have passed in the Assembly and lingered in the Senate.  Our membership voted to endorse candidates that will move us forward.

Melissa Sklarz is a former President of SDNYC, but that isn't why we endorsed her in her run for State Assembly.

As a life-long progressive New Yorker and fierce advocate for equality, Melissa Sklarz has dedicated her life to fighting for civil rights protections and justice in New York State. Throughout her career, she has fought to break down barriers and overcome adversity in critical issues including housing, civil rights, women’s reproductive health, and policing.  Melissa has been working for us for years.  Now let's work for her!
